Creamy Chicken and Broccoli Pasta

  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

  • Step-by-Step Directions

    1. Cook the Pasta

    1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    2. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
    3. During the last 2–3 minutes, add broccoli florets to the boiling pasta.
    4. Drain pasta and broccoli; reserve ½ cup pasta water.

    2. Cook the Chicken

    1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    2. Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
    3. Add chicken to the skillet and cook 5–7 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
    4. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.

    3. Make the Creamy Sauce

    1. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
    2. Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth; stir well.
    3. Add Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (if using), and salt/pepper to taste.
    4. Simmer gently for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    4. Combine Pasta, Chicken, and Sauce

    1. Add cooked chicken, pasta, and broccoli to the sauce.
    2. Stir in Parmesan cheese.
    3. If sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
    4. Cook 1–2 minutes to heat everything through.
